Spiritual Life
Spiritual Life at MCS
At Midwest Christian School, spiritual formation is not just a subject—it’s our culture. Everything we do is designed to help students discover their God-given purpose and build an unshakable confidence in who they are in Christ. Faith is woven into every classroom, every conversation, and every opportunity.
Weekly Chapel
Each week, students gather for a dynamic chapel experience filled with worship, Scripture, and practical teaching they can apply to their everyday lives. Chapel is a place where students encounter God, grow in faith, and learn how to live boldly for Christ.
Chapel includes:
- Engaging worship
- Practical, age-appropriate Bible lessons
- Testimonies, stories, and creative elements
- Opportunities for students to participate and lead
Daily Prayer & Bible Reading
Every school day begins with intentional time in God’s Word and prayer.
Students learn to:
- Hear God’s voice through Scripture
- Build a daily spiritual rhythm
- Pray with confidence and gratitude
- Apply biblical truth to real-life situations
These daily habits help shape a lifelong foundation of faith.
Warrior Week — Serving Our Community
Warrior Week is a special MCS tradition—an entire week devoted to serving the church, caring for our neighbors, and impacting the Des Moines community. This week teaches students that following Jesus means serving others with compassion, excellence, and joy.
Students participate in:
- Age-appropriate service projects
- Acts of kindness around the school and city
- Partnerships with local churches and nonprofits
- Hands-on opportunities to live out the Gospel
Spiritual Emphasis Days
Throughout the year, MCS sets aside focused spiritual renewal days designed to help students build strong, lasting faith.
These days include:
- Guest speakers and pastors
- Worship and prayer
- Devotionals and small-group discussions
- Interactive faith-building activities
Spiritual Emphasis Days allow students to pause, reflect, and grow deeper in their walk with Christ.
