KAYLA JOHNSON - Head of School

Mrs. Johnson considers herself incredibly fortunate to have come to know Jesus later in her teenage years all because of a single invitation to church. It was there that her personal relationship with Christ began, shaping the foundation of her faith and calling.

When she entered the field of education, she felt a clear calling into leadership from the very beginning. That sense of purpose continues to guide her passion for serving students, leading with faith, and creating environments where lives can be transformed through Christ-centered education. Kayla Johnson is a pastor, educator, and one of the founders of Midwest Christian School (MCS), with a deep passion for faith-based education and leadership development. Alongside her husband, she planted a church in Ankeny, Iowa, and brings over 15 years of ministry and leadership experience, serving individuals, families, and teams with authenticity and care.

Mrs. Johnson also has five years of experience in education, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Sterling College. She has completed leadership training through the Herzog Foundation Institute, a nationally recognized, best-in-class organization for ministry leadership development, equipping her with strong biblical conviction and practical leadership skills.

She is deeply committed to creating learning environments where students are academically challenged, spiritually formed, and personally known. Kayla leads with the belief that all things are possible with God and that every student is created with purpose. Her heart is to cultivate a culture where students feel safe, genuinely cared for, and are given the opportunity to know Jesus, while discovering who God created them to be.

As a proud mom of five, Mrs. Johnson understands the importance of partnering closely with families. This perspective fuels her passion for investing in the next generation through Christ-centered education and walking alongside students as they grow in faith, confidence, and purpose.
